Media Freedom in Hungary: A European Fundamental Right at Risk? Roundtable discussions on October 31

The CEU School for Public Policy and the CMCS, in cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Stiftung, will organize two roundtable discussions on media freedom in Hungary on the afternoon of October 31. Panelists at the first roundtable, at 2:15 PM, will review the state of the media in Hungary three years after the adoption of new media laws, while the next panel discussion, at 3:30 PM, is focused on media pluralism and the European agenda.

Panelists will include Rebecca Harms (President of the Green Group in the European Parliament), Dunja Mijatović (OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media), Andras Koltay (Member of the Media Council; Associate Professor, Pázmány Péter Catholic University), Manuel Sarrazin (Member of German Parliament), Balázs Weyer (Chairman of the Editors' Society in Hungary), Attila Mong (Deputy Editor-in-Chief of, the CMCS's Amy Brouillette and Justin Schlosberg (Birkbeck College, University of London; Media Reform Coalition, UK). The roundtables will be moderated by the CMCS's Kate Coyer.
